The Calgary Drillers were an American Basketball Association team in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. The team participated in a portion of the 2004–2005 season and then suspended operations in February 2005. During their brief stay in Calgary, the Drillers played out of the Stampede Corral. Few people knew about the Drillers existence, as the record crowd at a game was a mere 1000 people. Some theorists say that the low attendance was partly due to the rather embarrassing acts of the Drillers pep squad known as "Da Fuel," who will not be mentioned further.
Regardless, those fortunate enough to know about the Drillers were wowed by the incredible high flying slam dunks of the orange sneakered James Penny, who would routinely snatch the ball on a fast break and rise up, extending the ball to nearly the top of the backboard before slamming it through the hoop for 2 (or 3 given the ABA's 3 D rule).
